Each of the passages in this beginning reading SET 1:

  • focuses on CVC words
  • has names that are CVC words
  • no prep--print and go
  • contains an abundance of sight words
  • has cute, engaging picture clues
  • each page focuses on a word family
  • includes repetitive text
  • helps develop reading fluency
  • provides easy questions for beginning readers
  • includes multiple choice and short answer questions
  • pages have the same layout to help students work independently

The following word families are included:

at, an, ap, ad, ag, ed, et, eg, en, em, it, in, ip, ig, id, ot, og, op, om, ob, ug, un, ud, ut, up, ub, all, ack, amp, and, ash, ast, ell, ent, est, ess, ill, ick, ing, ish, ink, ock, oss, uck, uff, unk, ump, unch, ung, and ush.

Four reading comprehension questions follow each reading passage. There are three multiple choice questions. One question on each page requires a simple, one-word, written response.
