Description

This lively and interactive lesson/activity is useful for introducing Wants, Needs, and Delayed Gratification concepts for the Financial Literacy class. Mastering self-control is essential to their financial independence and this lesson shines a light on that fact.

I use this to intro the Money Management Unit and have successfully used it as a demo lesson! The students and admins were fully engaged. The lesson draws in students through everyday items, props, and visuals as well as class discussion and student activity throughout.

This resource includes:

  • detailed lesson guide with student-centered warmup, activities, presentation slides, and closure so you know if they 'got it'
  • colorful and intriguing presentation in both PPT and Slides
  • handout/scaffolding which may be shared with students digitally or in print form
  • Graphic Organizer to guide your students through the lesson and help them with proper engagement

I guide you through delivery of this lesson with teacher notes, tips, visuals, and activities that constantly pull the students into the discussion. Resource foolder includes a Lesson Guide, notes & instructions for you under slides, as well as in a separate Presentation PDF doc.

Props used in the warmup will grab your students attention and hold it throughout instruction. Your students will not forget this lesson!

The teacher should know what the Stanford Marshmallow Project is to effectively deliver the lesson. I give you a link to a brief video for your own viewing (Video and TedTalks are available on the well-known experiment about the value of delayed gratification as well.) A fun lesson for teachers as well as students! Enjoy!

Prepare your students for success NOW and after high school.
