Description

Included in this product are 24 figurative language task cards. Each card contains an excerpt of a published poem. This product is designed to help students better understand simile, metaphor, personification and hyperbole. The students will be expected to read the task card and identify the type of figurative language. The rigor increases with this product when you have the students choose several of the cards and explain what the author meant by the figurative language. I usually have my students choose 5 cards and explain the meaning of the figurative language.

These work great in centers or station activities or as extra practice for early finishers or tutoring.

Also included is an answer sheet, answer key and possible station directions.

Helpful how tos:

Print this out in color if possible. It was designed to be printed in color, however, it will look fine in gray scale.

Laminate the cards. If your students love this activity as much as mine, you will be using this quite frequently.
