Feelings Check In - Journal - Social Emotional

Social Emotional time is something that is much needed in every classroom. I like to have "feelings time" at my carpet as part of morning meeting. Lately there has not been time for that, so I created a check in system that has been working wonderfully! I love that I am able to pull a student one on one, talk and work through the emotions they are having. I also have a bellwork sheet that the students fill out as soon as they come to class. I pull these aside each day and see how they are feeling, gage our day, or see if a student might need pulled one on one for a conversation. I have a few friends in my class that love the journal option instead of the bellwork option, so I have that available as well.

There are some who may not know how to spell a feeling, or may not know how to describe how they are feeling. I have included a visual that I print four to a page, and give each student one to keep at their desk.
