    • Use the February warm ups / bell ringers to start each class. If you'd like, have students share their writing with a partner, group, or the class.
    • Assign a mini research for each week. These are self-paced and include clear directions. Students can work independently or with a partner. At the end of the week, they can share their findings.
    • Use the choice board / bingo board for fast finishers. Challenge students to get a bingo.
    • Include the vocabulary lesson for a fun Friday -- or Valentine's Day special event. Be sure to have students share their bio poems!
