What educators are saying

My students loved this approach to the story. It provided more than adequate support and helped in decoding the message of the story.

Description

This great pre-reading worksheet prepares students to read William Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily." Worksheet helps students open their mind to central themes and concepts of the story and allows them to express their opinions in doing so.

Worksheet consists of two sections: an anticipation guide and pre-reading questions.

Anticipation guide includes 5 short statements that relate to the story and its underlying themes. Students must agree or disagree, then explain their opinion.

Pre-reading questions includes 3 questions about societal standards, alienation and isolation, and the bounds of love.

Use this great activity to get students involved in and excited about reading Faulkner.
