Description

Take your students on a magical quest with this engaging narrative writing activity! They'll design unique characters, create backstories, and develop personality traits using descriptive words. Perfect for 4th and 5th grade, this printable writing packet allows for individual or group work and offers endless opportunities for creativity.

In-depth Description

This printable writing packet is a comprehensive narrative writing resource designed to strengthen students' writing skills and spark their imagination. With twenty-two different characters and ten different classes to choose from, your students will be able to show their creativity time and time again.

Students will start by designing their character, choosing from a variety of options provided in the magical character profile section. They will then dive into writing their character's backstory, making decisions about personality traits, likes and dislikes, and descriptive words.

The packet includes outline pages for the final draft, allowing students to structure their story, or you can have them design full-sized pages and place the completed writing pages underneath, beside, or in any creative layout.

For a collaborative experience, you can partner or group students and have them write the story of their characters going on a quest together. This activity can also be easily differentiated by providing students with more or fewer pages to complete, depending on their writing abilities or the time you have allocated for the project.

To support students throughout the writing process, there are explanation and example pages included in the packet. These resources will help students brainstorm ideas and bring their characters to life, ensuring a rich and engaging narrative.
