What educators are saying

I used this activity as an introduction to our fourth grade unit on the middle ages. Students did a fabulous job illustrating their coat of arms.
What a fun activity to add to my unit for 'Freak the Mighty'! Creating, coloring, creativity.... the kids loved it and begged to have them displayed in the hall!!

Description

Includes:

* detailed directions for students

* a list of heraldic symbols, animals, and colors

* 5 different templates for their Coat of Arms

* rubric for assessment with clear expectations

* analysis sheet for student which to write an explanation of their colors and symbols

* several student samples

***Suggestion: Copy the rubric and Analysis Sheet onto the back of the Coat of Arms template before giving it to the students. That way, they can color their Coat of Arms on the front, and write their paragraph explaining it on the back, AND have the rubric for reference.

Note: I USE THIS COAT OF ARMS ASSIGNMENT WHILE TEACHING "The Cask of Amontillado", but it can be used in conjunction with many other lessons!
