Description

Fall Math Number Sense and Addition Centers: Here's a fun differentiated Math pack with 8 number sense and addition activities for math centers or small group time! This set is Fall themed for October and November, with images of pumpkins, fall leaves, candy, owls, bats and scarecrows, but no overtly Halloween symbols. Each activity can be differentiated to make it more or less difficult depending on your students. Six of the activities include recording sheets so you can assess student's grasp of skills.

Included Activities:
Addition Match-up - students match the addition sentence cards to the pumpkin card sums. This can be differentiated for sums to 10 or sums to 20.

Candy Match-up - students find the 4 different representations of each number - tally marks, fingers, number word and object array.

Ten Frame Activities - students place the ten frame cards in order and use the corresponding recording sheets to indicate the number with either tally marks or numerals and counting words.

Greater Than/Less Than Activity - students count the objects on the cards and arrange them in numerical order. They then use < or > on the matching recording sheet to compare the objects.

Roll & Cover Addition & Subtraction Games - 2 game boards for addition and 1 for subtraction. Students roll 2 dice, add them and cover the sum on their board. Matching recording sheets are included.

Count & Graph Activity - students count the objects in the picture and complete the graph. They then answer questions about their graph and create addition sentences based on their graph on the 2 matching recording sheets.

Missing Numbers Activity - this can also be used as a Write the Room activity. Students record the missing number from each card on the matching recording sheet.

Owl Base Ten Activity - students count the tens and ones on the owl cards and place them in numerical order. On the matching recording sheet, students write the number for each owl card.

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
