Description
Your students will learn to read and write like a scientist and a historian during this outstanding Common Core Made Easy unit. I have also written Winter and Spring Units, so your whole year is DONE! This download contains everything you need to address: The three text types of the Common Core writing, the informational reading that supports it, fluency passages, fluency charts, and the art that makes school fun! Some units even have a quiz with them to expose first graders to Common Core style testing in small doses. Plus, we need these grades in our grade book! The quizzes are designed in true Common Core format with multiple correct answers, bubbling in, and free response. This is a growing bundle so grab it early before prices rise. Each week you have Social Studies or Science themed passage, a matching writing prompt, and art project. The writing prompt includes pre-writing organizers that help children process their thinking and successfully and easily get their ideas on paper. All reading passages are available in 3 formats. ( no numbers, with numbers, with numbers and a chart for homework) Your heart and your grade book are going to be full!

Try a full week risk free froma download on my blog. All weeks will follow the same format of shared reading, student passage, writing, art, and bulletin board lettering that you will see in the download. Seeing is believing! Go check it out.
Passages have been written to be VERY readable for your first graders with teacher support. In the fall using a pocket chart paired with the shared reading cards is very smart teaching. This is not independent reading, rather it is fitting the Common Core Shared Reading and Informational Text Research piece. My students read the passage with me every morning for 2 minutes. They squeal with joy each Monday morning when I give them their new passage and show them the art and writing! Really they squeal and they are hungry to learn.
The large unit is available in this one easy download or can be purchased separately, though not all the separate units are loaded yet.
This is a monster unit, and I know that you will love having your thematic units planned, writing done, and a full grade book. But most of all you will see your little readers shooting for the stars! That unit will help you with all of the above!
