Included in this resource:
• 3 Fairy Tale scripts written with beginning readers in mind
• Character name tags for each play
• Common Core aligned & labeled worksheets to go along with the story
• Answer Keys (when applicable)
• 1st -3rd grade summarized common core reading standards
Reader's Theater Teaching Tips:
• Begin by familiarizing the group with the characters & unknown vocabulary.
•To build fluency speed, have students pre-read their scripts silently several times. (To build fluency with improved expression, begin to practice out loud.)
• This is great for workshop or centers focused on building reading fluency.
• I like to divide my class into 4 groups and give each group a play to practice. After practicing for several days, they then perform it for the class.
•This is a GREAT MAY or JUNE Activity!!
• Reader’s theater can be made into a costumed, staged performance or kept simple with students sitting on chairs in front of the class. Do what works best for your schedule!
