These cards can be used in one of four ways:

Individually: Students can read the cards to test their French knowledge. They can play the memory game individually.

In partners: With a friend, students can take turns reading the cards to each other and playing the memory game.

Small-group: Students can take turns reading the cards in French. Have the small group guess what the card means in English.

Large-group: The teacher can read the card and students can raise their hands to give a response.

Memory card game rules:

  1. The objective is to collect the most pairs of cards.
  2. Shuffle the cards and lay them on the table, face down.
  3. Take turns. On each turn, a player turns over any two cards (one at a time) and keeps them if the image matches the French vocabulary term.
  4. If they successfully match a pair they get to keep the cards AND that player gets to go again.
  5. If a player turns over two cards that do not match, those cards put back face down in the same position and it becomes the next player’s turn.
  6. The person with the most pairs at the end of the game wins!
