Description
An activity for age 7+ with the aim to aid self-awareness and self-esteem. This activity encourages children to consider their future and the person they would like to become.
Self-awareness is about knowing who you are as an individual and this activity encourages children to consider themselves from this perspective.
Allow children to keep their response anonymous to allow for the most honest outcome. My class were able to complete this completely independently, but some children may need clear explanation of what the questions are asking and you may want to support them in developing their answers by going through each question one-by-one.
The children I completed this with all took it seriously and really enjoyed having time to reflect on themselves. As an extension, they were allowed to draw anything that encompassed the future they pictured.
This activity could be paired with long-term and short-term goal-setting, considering the steps to take to build the future they picture (activities to accompany to follow).
