Description

This resource contains a Year/Grade 4-9 example of a (fictitious) student-composed story. It can be used as a mentor text/model/example story of a narrative/story/personal narrative in third person for Year/Grade 4-9 students. This resource can be used to demonstrate a below, meeting or above standard story, depending on your students' year/grade level, e.g.

- It is Highly Developed for Year/Grade 4, 5 and 6

- Developed for Year/Grade 7

- Developing for Year/Grade 8-9

· This is a free resource, presented as a PDF. The purchasable resource is presented as a PDF and editable Word document. It also contains six other versions of this story, representative of Year/Grade 1-8 students' work, as well as cloze stories for students to complete, using this story as a guide. The resource has been created for Australian students but is internationally appropriate and can be purchased here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Year-1-7-Narratives-NAPLAN-Focus-Stevens-Story-7109991

· In the paid resource, the story is presented in seven different versions, of different ability levels ranging from Year/Grade 1-8. These versions are intended as guides so that students can discuss how the same story can be written in a limited, developing, developed or highly developed way – at the teacher’s discretion, depending on their students’ year level and skills. They can also be used on a Bump It Up Wall display or Anchor Charts.

· The prompt for this story is also included in this resource. It is based on the Australian NAPLAN exams which occur in Year 3, 7 and 9 to assess students' writing progress.
