Everyday Mathematics 4: Addition/Subtraction Strategy Card

This is a tool for students to use to assist them in remembering the different strategies they can use to solve and organize addition and subtraction problems when working independently.
I originally created this for my 2nd Grade SpEd kids to help them remember the different ways they could try to organize and solve problems in their EM4 Math Journals. It turned out to be very useful for GenEd students in the class, too! This tool has been extremely helpful for all of the students, especially with word problems!
This card is 2-sided: one side lists the various EM4 solution strategies, the other side shows the different EM4 organization strategies.
Solution Strategies include using a number grid, tally marks, friendly numbers, expanded form, base-10 blocks, and much more!
Organization Strategies include using an open number line, part-part-total, and more!
Print this on cardstock or paper, fold in half (to make it two-sided), and laminate. TIP: It is helpful to have several of these on hand so several students can use one at the same time!
