*Morning Check-In: This is a Google Form that allows you to check-in with your students. And note any events/emotions that may effect your day. The morning check-in is designed to have three sections:
- Daily Check-In: (how did you sleep, how do you feel, do you need anything from your teacher?) You can also include lunch count here.
- Daily Affirmation: Students copy a daily affirmation. This contributes to creating a positive classroom environment.
- Morning Meeting Question: Students brainstorm an answer to the morning meeting “sharing” question. This makes morning meeting run much smoother. My example is designed to be SEL based.
**Soft Start: Instead of immediately jumping into academic work, students can choose a hands-on activity that eases them into their day. Activities can include board games, puzzles, stem-tools, etc. These activities should allow students to engage in their creativity and critical thinking skills.
