1. The Very Hungry Caterpillar
is set includes directions and 8 four beat rhythm ostinato cards to be incorporated along with the children's picture book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." Using Quarter and Eighth Notes, this activity is great for kindergarten and 1st grade students who are familiar or may come across this book in their reading classes as well. Great cross curricular activity that is engaging for students and meets music standards while incorporating literacy as well.
Ostinato directions and suggestions for performance or final product are included.
2. Does Kangaroo Have a Mother Too?
This set includes directions and 11 two measure rhythm ostinato cards to be incorporated along with the children's picture book "Does Kangaroo Have a Mother Too?" Using Quarter and Eighth Notes, this activity is great for kindergarten, 1st grade, or 2nd grade students who are familiar or may come across this book in their reading classes as well. Great cross curricular activity that is engaging for students and meets music standards while incorporating literacy as well. Factual information about each animal was used to compose the two measure ostinato patterns, incorporating science as well.
3. Polar Bear, Polar Bear
This set includes directions and and a melody to be incorporated with the children's picture book "Polar Bear Polar Bear" by Eric Carle. Emphasizing sol, mi, and la, this activity is great for 1st and 2nd grade students who are familiar or may come across this book in their reading classes as well. Included in the set are:
1. Slides with just the text and pictoral solefege for each animal in the story. Each page's solfege dictation is graphically specific to the animal on the page.
2. A dictation of the melody to add to the book.
3. An extension worksheet for students to write their own page to the book, adding a verse to the story and song. You can perform these after learning the melody or could create a class book.
4. Directions and suggestions for use.
