English for German Nurses: Qualities of a good Nurse

This is the perfect handout to start your first lesson as an English teacher for Nurses in Germany. It includes a speaking/discussion section, a vocabulary building section, a reading part, and a writing/discussion section. The lesson begins with a discussion to get the students comfortable speaking in English. Then, there is a quick review of English adjectives that the students can use later on. The next exercise is the reading of three paragraphs each of them describing a quality needed to be a good nurse. I love asking my students to underline the important ideas in the text and write a short summary of the main idea. We continue with another vocabulary-building exercise to put the adjectives from the article into use. Finally, we get to a writing exercise. I usually ask my students to choose one of the topics and write their own paragraphs. this handout is very easy to accommodate to different levels and circumstances. It usually takes the students 60 to 90 minutes to complete it, depending on their level.
