In this activity, students can investigate the English Documents that influenced the Founding Fathers when writing the US Constitution. The chart consists of topics that students will indicate if it was addressed in the Magna Carta, English Petition of Right, English Bill of Rights, or Habeas Corpus Act.

On the second page, students have an opportunity to define key terms and phrases that may help them determine what the topics mean. For example, if they need help understanding "martial law" or "jury trial" they have this sheet to take notes.

Although the English documents are not provided in this activity, the teacher can create a Webquest or online activity with links to the documents. Students can complete this chart as a group in Google classrooms, for example, or on paper.

An answer key is provided on the second sheet tab of the spreadsheet.
