What educators are saying

This was a great resource to use with this curriculum since I am new to it. My class enjoys using it with their lessons. Thanks!
It took a little bit with the cutting and gluing but it was more engaging than boring paper and pencil.

Description

Are you using Engage New York Math curriculum or simply following Common Core State Standards in Math? Then you will love this interactive notebook! Each page is created to support your students with each lesson and become a study tool for your students as you teach the lessons from Module 1! The focus of this notebook is on place value, rounding, addition, subtraction, and word problems.

Each of the 19 lessons taught in the module is supported with:

► a critical thinking word problem- allowing students to explain their mathematical thinking

► any new vocabulary introduced in that lesson

► an activity for students to demonstrate their understanding of the lesson.

It makes an excellent resource for students to take home with them as:

★ notes

★ at home to help with their homework

★ to use as a review for a test

►Students will love being able to personalize their notebooks and create a valuable tool!

►You can use this notebook daily to go along with each lesson or pick out the lessons you think your class needs extra practice with.

This interactive journal is a great way for students to organize and record their thinking, more so than a worksheet allows.

★The pages are designed for minimal cutting (saves your students time) and minimal use of paper (2- single-sided pages for each lesson).

Recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division.
Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form. Compare two multi-digit numbers based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
Use place value understanding to round multi-digit whole numbers to any place.
Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations, including problems in which remainders must be interpreted. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
