Description
Celebrate the end of the year countdown with a Beach Day! These Beach Day activities review math and literacy skills, all with a mysterious twist! With the Beach Day centers from The Case of the Beach Bandit End of the Year Escape Room, your students will be highly engaged as they complete 6 or 8 different challenges to eliminate the suspects and discover who has stolen the missing beach bag!
These Beach Day Escape Room activities can be used for a Beach Day, an End of Year Party or end of the year themed math and literacy centers.
Make the end of the year a memorable (and learning-filled) celebration with these beach day end of the year escape room activities!
Set the stage with a note from a beach goer:
I had a beach day,
Scheduled and planned.
But first I need you,
To lend a hand!
The beach bag is gone.
Where did it go?
Who could have it,
I do not know!
Complete each challenge,
And when you’re done,
Eliminate the suspects.
One by one!
After the students complete each challenge, they will receive a clue from the culprit. A suspect will be eliminated after each challenge. Once all of the beach day centers have been completed, they will have eliminated all but one suspect!
There are 4 math and 4 literacy beach day activities included. Black and white option included. Targeted skills:
- recognizing beginning blends (bl & br)
- building CVC words
- identifying rhyming words
- composing sentences and recognizing high frequency words
- decomposing the numbers 11-19 into base ten
- finding the missing part in a number bond
- measuring with nonstandard units
- subtracting from 5
The Challenges:
- Clam Challenge - Stretch out each CVC word. Identify the letters and build the word.
- Shell Challenge - Find the missing part to complete the number bond.
- Sunglasses Challenge - Match the pictures that rhyme.
- Shovel Challenge - Identify the number represented with base ten blocks, and match it to the numeral.
- Bucket Challenge - Listen for the beginning blend (bl & br), and sort the pictures into the correct bucket.
- Surfboard Challenge - Measure each surfboard using the seashell ruler.
- Sandcastle Challenge - Arrange the words into the correct order to make the sentence.
- Beach Ball Challenge - Solve the subtraction problem. Write the number sentence.
