Description
Therapeutic Rationale:
The body is used as a fun, engaging and creative method for clients of most ages 4 years and up to develop an awareness of emotional language. This is a wonderful tool to explore the differences between emotions (labels) and feelings (body sensations/ somatic work)
Materials needed:
You’re welcome to use markers, pencils, crayons etc.
Application:
Inform your client that you’d like to make an artwork with them called the Body Scan - You can invite your client to
- Associate an emotion with a colour
- Scan through the figure of the body below to identify where and how intense they feel the emotion.
- If they feel a lot of happiness in they’re heart we want to see big colours of happiness
- Little bit of sadness of tears can be drawn with small tears or shapes next to the eyes etc.
