    Description

When teaching nursery / pre KG, some children are ready to read but I found that some of the books were just too complicated.

Emergent Readers / First readers Google Slides™ ebook are simple information books for Pre-KG, KG and grade one children. They have been created with the reluctant or emergent readers in mind and introduces them to a variety of topics. The text is repetitive, simple and includes high frequency words and simple subject specific language. Pictures and sentences are written to prompt discussion and designed to be an easy read that can be revisited over and over. There are two versions of this product so that you can choose how your student receives the document. There are some unavoidable technical language and this should provide the chance for children to clarify meaning.

    • These google slides ebooks are good basic readers for children who are just beginning to recognise and read words.
    • The texts are simple and clear and a quick read - perfect for rotating and helping children feel a sense of achievement. My students like to whizz through these books and revisit them.
    • Children who like non-fiction books should enjoy these.
    • These ebooks are also great for 'warming up' readers who are a little out of practice or who have lost a little confidence. Sight words /high frequency words that are being used in class are featured here.
    • At the beginning of each ebook there is a list of key words that are the focus of each book to remind the adult who is supervising the reading with view to independent reading.
    • There are text repeats to help children make text connections and build familiarity with sight words and helping children to retain key words.
    • Pictures of real life situations should capture the attention of children who are not drawn to fiction books.

These are full color engaging books with simple words and sentences. Building on vocabulary and using repetition and consolidating. The photos are arranged and are clear so that children have the opportunity to comment on what is happening and communicate using the vocabulary featured in the text. Children will be encouraged to develop confidence in reading when working their way through these simple non-fiction picture books. They may know a lot of sight words in their isolated form but this is an opportunity to see them presented in simple sentences. Children who are reluctant readers will find that they can make mini reading milestones as they work their way through the pages and start to form connections. Children should have their confidence boosted and be exposed to different words and sentences.

These books is aimed at children who like pictures and focuses on the key sight words / high frequency words: the, can, bee, fly, it, go, up. Not all sentences make complete sense as the aim is for children to read and to be able to gain confidence when they begin to recognise words. Repetition and familiarity with vocabulary is the main focus and to build confidence.

This book is in a Google slides format so great for small group, individual table learning or for distance learning. There is a section in the back for adults to record words understood or words to learn or to comment.

    Happy reading!
