What educators are saying

This resource is so great! genius! My kids had a great time drawing me and making up ideas of where I could be. We all had a great time reading their answers when I came back.
I left these for a sub when I was away one day and my students had so much fun sharing their posters with me the next day. It was funny to see what sorts of things they thought I would be doing and what they thought my most common sayings were.

Description

Emergency Sub Plan - Missing Teacher Substitute Teacher Lesson and Activity: This emergency sub plan is ready-to-use for any day off! This lesson and activity will keep your students totally engaged and on-task. The assignment is about your inexplicable absence and puts students in charge (by the principal) of investigating the reason you are not at school. Students will create a Missing Teacher poster and an investigative police case file that has them examine evidence and witness testimonies regarding your absence. You will come back to school to an assignment that will get you laughing!

Included in this Emergency Sub Plan Lesson and Activity

➡️ Detailed Substitute Teacher Lesson Plan: An editable lesson plan is included that outlines the step-by-step details of the emergency sub plan for the substitute teacher. A. This will take the pressure off you when you need to take a day off unexpectedly.

➡️ Missing Teacher Poster Assignment: This assignment sets up the back story of the student arriving at school to find their teacher absent. The principal puts them in charge of investigating this. They create a poster that includes space for students to draw the teacher and share information like their appearance, common locations they might find their teacher, things you often hear the teacher saying, what the teacher is likely doing, and what to do if they are found. This is a funny emergency sub plan that allows students to share what they know about you!

➡️ Missing Teacher Case File Assignment: After students have completed the poster, they will fill out a police case file that shows they have made a major breakthrough in the case. Students will imagine evidence collected (think items that relate to you), witness testimony, predictions, motives, and possible suspects. This is a writing assignment that will allow your students to get creative and think outside the box.
