What educators are saying

If you need a sub tub ready to go, use this resource. It takes some times to put together but once set, is an amazing resource for the subs

Description

Elementary Music Sub Plans: This is your "Sub Survival Tub" that music teachers can feel comfortable leaving with subs who have zero experience teaching music and may not be able to sing or read music.

This set contains:

1. EDITABLE sub binder pages

These include pages for you to type

- Your daily schedule (a different page for each day)

- Procedures

- Drills/Emergencies

- Technology Available (and room to explain how to use it all)

- Where to find Materials Needed (pencils, boards to write on, crayons, instruments, etc.)

- Singing Games for Substitutes - list by grade level the singing games that your students know well enough to play with a student leader.

- Student leaders - a place for you to list student leaders in each class who could lead singing games, rhythm games, etc. if the sub is not musically inclined.

- Editable Seating Chart

2. Printable feedback forms for the subs to fill out

- Today we accomplished.... (by grade level)

- Helpful students

- Student/Behavior Issues

3. EDITABLE Book List

The editable book list includes titles, authors, links to where you can purchase if it is not in your library, suggested grade level and concepts. The books I have chosen for this section are mostly ones that either include a CD or can be spoken (books about composers, performers, etc.). I have found that most of my subs are not comfortable singing books to children. It does include a few for preschool and kindergarten that could be sung but are very familiar children's songs.

4. Video List

Sometimes a video just works best for certain subs or situations. I have included a short video list with the title, where to purchase, suggested grade levels and what they help teach.

5. Fourteen Singing Games - recordings, instructions, and lyrics

I love to leave singing games for my students that we have already done in class and they know well. This way, they are continuing to prepare or practice the concepts we are working on.

I have included file folder of mp3's of me singing 14 of my kids favorite games that don't get TOO rowdy that I feel good leaving with a sub. These are not studio recordings and are a cappella. They will merely do the job in helping your sub hear the song and/or help students get started in an appropriate key or help them remember the song if it is one they have not done in a while.

For the songs that I have included mp3's I have also included lyrics (not sheet music, as most of my subs have not been able to read music), and game directions so they have an idea of what should be going on.

The purpose of this section is NOT so that a sub can teach the class a new game. It is really important if you leave a singing game with a sub that the kids already know how to play it. You will need to fill out which grade levels can play which singing games.

Recordings, lyrics, and game directions are included for:

- Apple Tree

- Big Fat Biscuit

- Bobby Shafto

- Bounce High, Bounce Low

- Button You Must Wander

- Closet Key

- Doggie, Doggie

- Grizzly Bear

- Gypsy in the Moonlight

- Let Us Chase the Squirrel

- Long Road of Iron

- Lucy Locket

- Pease Porridge Hot

- Who's That Tapping at My Window

6. Five Children's Literature Lessons with Extensions

Short lesson plans where the sub reads the book (some are with CD) and then digs a little deeper with some brainstorming, review, writing, drawing, etc. afterwards.

Books used:

- "Never Play Music Right Next to the Zoo"

- "Vivaldi's Four Seasons"

- "What a Wonderful World"

- "When You Wish Upon a Star"

- "Carnival of the Animals"

7. I Have, Who Has Bundle (Reg. $14)

A bundle of all my "I Have, Who Has" rhythm and melody games

8. Post Office Bundle (Reg. $11)

A bundle of all my "Post Office" rhythm and melody games

9. Telephone Rhythm Games Bundle

(Reg. $12)

A bundle of all my "Telephone" rhythm games

Please note- some sections of this sub tub require a bit of work up front to put the sub/binder together, print materials and games, burn a CD of the mp3's if desired and fill in your information in the editable sub binder pages, but once you have it all in place you will not need to stress out every time you or your kiddos get sick or you have professional development and you need to be gone. This may not be a "print and use tomorrow" unless you already have several of the books on hand or if your students know the singing games really well, but once you do get it put together hopefully it is something you can use forever!

If you have any questions, please e-mail me before purchase at LindsayJervis@hotmail.com

If you have purchased any of the rhythm games but would like to purchase this bundle, please email me and I will give you store credit towards another item for the things you have already purchased! OR another option is to purchase the "Sub Survival Tub {Without Games}" this is the exact same file as this one EXCEPT that it does NOT include any of the "I Have, Who Has", "Post Office" or "Telephone" games. Find it here: Music Sub Plans Bundle {Without Games}

Additional licenses will always be 50% off. If you like this file and want to share it, please purchase the additional license, or purchase an additional license and split the cost of the total with a friend!
