The lessons meet the National Core Arts Music Standards and were designed for both public school teachers and homeschool parents. WHAT EDUCATORS ARE SAYING:

"Very clearly written, very easy to follow each lesson. The lessons are well thought through for the garde level specified. It covers our Quebec Music Curriculum. I love the songs and the activities suggested - it has EVERYTHING you need - worksheets, PowerPoints, lyrics, scores, mp3 recordings of piano accompaniment. This resource has saved my life this year!" - Nancy C.

"This resource was an absolute life saver for me and my students - I could not recommend it enough. *Note: I bought this in 2018 and have been using it for 5 years. My students enter middle school band/ choir programs knowing how to read music, notate rhythms, and different music styles thanks to Emily. Forever grateful to you!" - Kristen

Differences Between Sets 1 and 2

INCLUDED IN THIS BUNDLE:

120 lesson plans (240 for 30-minute classes)! Each grade contains 20 lesson plans designed to last 50 minutes (this can vary depending on the skill and behavior of your students). If you have shorter classes, just split each lesson in half for 40 lessons per grade.

Lessons include the following sections: Teacher Name, Date, Objective (written as an “I Can” statement), Warm-Up, Anticipatory Set, Model, Guided Practice, and Independent Practice. All lessons meet the National Core Arts Music Standards!

120 Lessons at a glance. These are shorter versions of each lessons that contain the objective for that lesson, standards, new terms/concepts, songs, required materials, and optional materials. These are a great way to get a quick idea of what you will be teaching in each lesson as well as what materials you need without having to read through the entire lesson plan!

62 Original Songs. Each grade comes with several original songs and warm-ups. Notation (including piano accompaniment) for the songs as well as MP3 sound files are included in this product! The piano accompaniment for each song requires beginner to moderate skill level. The sound files include both full score and accompaniment only. They were recorded using music notation software and do not include human voices singing the melody; however, I recently added separate sound files of me singing the melody for each song to help non-music teachers learn the songs. These are quiet and not intended to play for students.

1 song list per grade. This document contains a list of all the songs mentioned in the lessons for that grade along with the lessons that utilize each song.

1,536 pages of resources. All of the resources (i.e. PowerPoint presentations, worksheets, posters, etc.) mentioned in the lessons for each grade are included in this product.

(NOTE: EACH NEW CONCEPT THAT IS INTRODUCED IN THE LESSONS HAS A CORRESPONDING POWERPOINT PRESENTATION THAT IS WRITTEN IN SCRIPT FORM. THIS MEANS THAT AS YOU READ FROM THE POWERPOINT, IT WILL BE LIKE YOU HAVE ME IN THE ROOM TEACHING YOUR CLASS ABOUT THE NEW CONCEPT IN MY OWN WORDS)

MATERIALS NEEDED:

★A projector is required to use the PowerPoint presentations.

★A Smart Board is not required but is helpful when utilizing portions of this resource. If you do not have a Smart Board in your classroom, simply allow students to click the mouse at your computer to view interactive features throughout the resource (some pages include clickable objects).

★Six of the lessons in this product require that you have access to two or three xylophones. If you do not have xylophones in your classroom, you will have to omit portions of these lessons. For Rhythm Judo (5th Grade), students can use rhythm or drum sticks to play the rhythms on buckets or drums. If you do not have these materials, students can use their hands and play on chairs or the floor!

★PowerPoint presentations on various non-pitched percussion instruments are also included in this product. If you do not have one of these instruments, I recommend showing the PowerPoint presentation and then allowing students to play a different non-pitched instrument for the remainder of class. Instruments included in the PowerPoint presentation: rhythm sticks, maracas, guiros, hand drums, claves, sand blocks, tambourines, triangles, castanets, finger cymbals, cow bells, bongo drums, conga drums, djembes, cabasas, xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, and recorders

★Other materials needed to implement these lessons include: Plastic cups, file folders; plastic sandwich bags, 2 brown paper bags, sticky notes, dice, 3 buckets or trash cans, 3 bean bags or balls, bubbles, balloons, dice, scissors, dimes, one button, colored pencils, and one stringed instrument of your choice (for example, a guitar or violin). You do not need to know how to play the stringed instrument.

★THIS PRODUCT IS NOT EDITABLE.

Tips for using this product in your password protected virtual learning platform (like Google Classroom or Schoology):

  • Assign the pdf worksheets from this product to your students so that they can type on the worksheet from their computers. To do this, use the snipping tool to create a picture of the worksheet you want to assign and then upload it into Google Slides. Here is a great tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sd_QN3Jcnao&ck_subscriber_id=769661488
  • If you do not need your students to be able to type directly on a page from their computer and only need them to print a page off at home, simply open the pdf on your computer and use the "print to PDF" option to save an individual page or group of pages to your computer and then upload them into Google Classroom as an "assignment" or as "material." You can also do this for the PowerPoint files in this product. Here is a tutorial on saving an individual page to your computer from a pdf with more than one page: https://screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cYeZqJyxPi?ck_subscriber_id=769661488

Here is a tutorial on assigning work to your students in Google Classroom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uhKgln1uuw

  • You can also save the song notation and lyric sheets from this product to your computer and then upload them to your desired password protected online learning platform. I recommend waiting to upload the mp3 sound files from this product to your virtual learning site until students have had multiple opportunities to hear you sing the songs. The mp3's do not include human voices singing the melodies of each song (the melodies are played by instruments) so it could be difficult for them to sing along with the mp3's at first.
