What educators are saying

My super hero obsessed boys loved learning about the periodic table and developing their own superhero. What a great way to learn about the elements and also get those artistic juices flowing. What an excellent resource for even the most unmotivated students.
This is a fun way for students to learn about an element. I am always impressed by my students' creativity when I use this project.

Description

Includes a Digital (Google Slide) Version and a Printable Version — All Versions are Editable

This project is an engaging way to learn about the physical and chemical properties of elements. Most element projects only mention superheroes. However, many elements align more with a villain than a superhero (Like Chlorine!). In this activity, students will have the creative freedom to personify one element on the periodic table into a superhero—or a villain.

I have included a huge bundle of resources to guide you and your students to success. Read below to find out what's included.

The Digital and Printable Versions Include:

★ A student direction page that sets clear guidelines but also allows for student creativity and choice

★ Grading Rubric

★ An element sign-up sheet

★ Two-page research worksheet which will help students find out relevant information about their element

★ A page of ten reliable website links for research purposes

★ A comic character biography page

★ Eight predesigned printable templates that students can use to draw their superhero/villain. Giving students a blank piece of paper can be intimidating, especially for students who cannot draw. The base templates allow students to have the superhero proportions already set up. Students can draw facial features and add additional images to make their individual superhero/villain come alive.

★ Helpful hints describing the steps I use to deliver this lesson to my students
