Description

This Promethean Flipchart for Activ Board gives students an insight into the election and voting process. It begins by showing a diagram representing the 2008 election, voting booth to ballot to election of the next president. The flipchart then lists the lesson objectives. Next, it gives the vocabulary words with definitions: vote, campaign, election, and ballot. Next, it allows students to brainstorm issues in the country, school, and classroom, and invites them to a higher order thinking activity: why do we need a president. Then it gives a scenario of the school electing two fifth graders as candidates for 2012, and lets them brainstorm as to what they would want out of a school president. The next slide gives two fictitious candidates and their campaign promises. The next activity allows students to vote for one or the other, the teacher then tallies up the votes to see who the class elected. Last, a closure of the lesson.
