Description

I spent almost an hour (not even kidding) looking for a resource to use with my third graders for election day... I wanted them to learn about the process we use to elect leaders, but didn't want to stand in front of them with some huge powerpoint! Eventually, I decided to create my own student-led resource...

This activity simulates the election & voting process for students. They are put into different groups (parties) and will work together to be elected as the new classroom teacher!! They will...

  • come up with different policies for the classroom
  • create posters to share their policies
  • write a speech to convince citizens to vote
  • present their speeches and posters to the class

My students were so engaged as they worked together!! Additionally, they got a "behind the scenes" experience with election day!!

Once all groups have presented, students will then vote for a party (not their own, of course) that presented fair policies. I even included I voted stickers for you to give your students!

I hope this activity is as successful for you as it was for me!! Have fun!! :)

When you buy something on TPT, I am sure you are all about quality. I am a "one man band" but I try my best and only post things that I used in my own classroom. I strive for my lessons to have quality because my students deserve quality instruction. Therefore, I hold myself accountable for posting quality resources! Notice the trend lol

Please consider supporting my small store by checking out the resources below. These are not just my "best sellers," but also the products I am most proud of and have had the most success with in my own classroom!
