Description

This interactive unit helps students become familiar with the democratic process of voting through relevant math and language arts activities. Here's what's included:
Activity 1: The Campaign Trail: A budget is set for campaigning. Students use basic math skills to choose campaign strategies.
Activity 2: If I Were President: Students write about what they would do if they were president.
Activity 3: Design a Button: Students get creative and design a campaign button.
Activity 4: Managing an Election Students use math skills to prepare for an election in their town.
Activity 5: May the Best Candidate Win: Students choose a candidate based on their positions on several relevant topics.
Activity 6: Poll Analysis: Students analyze data from a poll and draw conclusions.
Activity 7: Election Bingo: Students practice using election vocabulary with a bingo game.
Activity 8: President Reports: Students research a president and then give an oral report. Grading rubric included.
