Description

This hands on and engaging lesson on diversity can be used for classroom relationship building in addition to support for the following:
- Marin Luther King, Jr. Day
- Anti-Bully Week
- February Black History Month
- Kindness Week

Introduce the theme of diversity with this hands on activity! Let this lesson be your anticipatory set!

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream was that everyone would be treated equally no matter what the color of their skin was. The eggs represent this diversity and students learn that, although different on the outside, we are the same on the inside. This visual lesson is eye opening, making it easier to grasp such concepts within upcoming mentor texts.

This lesson includes a vocabulary poster on diversity, recording sheets on initial egg observations (via Tree Maps), critical thinking response sheets, and writing prompt paper regarding the theme of the lesson. Print and go!
