Are you looking to recognize Easter while still keeping things rigorous?

This file was created by me for my fifth grade students, but could also be used by fourth graders with scaffolding and sixth graders independently. It includes a one-page history of Easter, as well as five corresponding comprehension questions similar to those upper-grades students typically see on standardized tests. It also includes an answer key and lesson plan featuring my seven-step close-reading strategy.

This strategy is a great way to coach students in the process of digging deep into their reading, rather than just having them read and answer questions. By the time students approach middle school, their foundational reading skills are well-developed. Many, however, need to be taught strategies that help them engage in and understand informational text. This knowledge will help increase their proficiency on standardized tests, as well as prepare them for future assessments.

You will receive the following items with your purchase:
• Close-Reading Passage
• Five Corresponding Comprehension Questions
• Answer Key
• Lesson Plan
