Celebrate Earth Day, or help develop students' environmental awareness by engaging them in a fun, nature-themed collage making activity inspired by Louis Armstrong's beautiful song "What a Wonderful World".
After listening to the music children discuss what they appreciate the most about the gifts by Mother Nature. "The trees of green, red roses, too?" What else do they find wonderful in this world? What can they do to help preserve these things?
They will learn about what collage art is and who the most famous 20th and 21st century collage artists are. Then, to familiarize with the technique, students will observe and analyze a variety of collage art pieces, then create their own nature-themed piece.
