What educators are saying

One of my favorite read-alouds to read at the beginning of the year! Thanks for the supplemental work to go along with it!
I loved this book and I was so thrilled to have found a resource to go along with it. I used this to help engage the students in discussion of "Each Kindness". Thank you greatly for such a wonderful resource!

Description

The mentor text, Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson, is a fabulous text to use with your students. Not only is this a wonderful story for character building and teaching about kindness, but it is a great text to use for teaching how to compare characters and inferring why a character choose their actions.

In this unit, you will find a lesson plan guide with several activities that include:

How can we be kind? Bubble Map
Who is being kind? (details about characters' actions)
Comparing the characters Maya and Chloe
Why would Chloe do this? (inferring why Chloe treated Maya this way)
What would Chloe say to Maya?
Letter format for writing a letter from Chloe to Maya
Complete Sentences (grammar skill)
Writing about kindness
