Description

Our Esperanza Rising Google Earth is a high-engagement way to give an Introduction Tour of the geography of the novel's world. The first time I busted out Google Earth on the projector to introduce a unit, students were riveted. And they still are...every time.

★ We've filmed a YouTube video tutorial to acquaint you with the software.

★ Make sure you have the ability to unzip a folder to view the content inside. We've filmed a YouTube video tutorial to acquaint you with unzipping files.

Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Los Angeles, El Centro, Highway 99, San Joaquin Valley, the Sierra Madre Mountains ...they even get to see a 3D view of the author's grandmother's house zoomed in down to the street. It's rockin awesome.

WHAT OTHER TEACHERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THIS GOOGLE EARTH RESOURCE

♥ One of my best purchases! It can take some time to get set up, depending on your experience with Google Earth. The video tutorials are really helpful, and the provided instructions and explanations are thorough which make the set up process relatively stress-free!

♥ The students LOVE seeing the locations! For many of my CA kids, this is the closest they've ever been. It made it more real for them to imagine.

"You mean this is a real place?" That's what I heard all day when I presented this :-). The kids really loved "walking" around.

♥ This is one of my most favorite tools to use! My rural, Midwestern students did benefit from seeing the locations. It's a neat idea. My students love the visual and the "realness" of the places!

♥ This is a great activity for my AP Lit students. Students are consistently engaged with this resource. It's nice to have something exciting when starting a new book, and this is just what I needed. The instructions were very thorough

Labeled and easy to navigate. This is pretty nifty, and helpful for the more visual learners! :) They requested that we use it several times! I love having the map open while we are reading and zooming in to each place we talk about. My kids thought this was great and so did my principal. Thank you for making the story come alive!
