Academic paragraph construction is a challenging task for English Learners. It requires them to not only produce the vocabulary to convey their thoughts, but also to organize the information effectively with appropriate transitions. Paragraph frames scaffold this skill providing sentence starters and an organizational structure, allowing students to focus solely on generating content. Then, as students gain practice using paragraph frames, they begin to internalize the language and apply it in their own writing.
