    Description

Looking for ELA Bell Ringers for your middle school students? These daily Bell Ringer activities will get your students working immediately as they enter the classroom! Imagine your students quietly working at the beginning of class every day with minimal prompting from YOU!

    It's a teacher's dream!

Not to mention, your students will be learning (like, actually learning) new vocabulary words AND practicing correct grammar and usage in writing!

In just 10 minutes of class time each day, this all-in-one resource will take care of your language skills and vocabulary instruction for the entire year! (Aligns with Common Core State Standards!)

    How Does it Work?

When students enter the classroom, a sentence is projected on the board. Using their Sentence Sleuth Graphic Organizer, they will become "Sentence Sleuths" and correct the mistakes in the sentence.

    1. A student leader will review the corrections with the class, ensuring to explain the why behind each correction--the "why" is key!
    2. In each of these sentences is a vocabulary word. Using the context clues in the sentence, students will determine the meaning of the word by giving their "best guess."
    3. After several students have shared their "best guesses," the teacher reveals the dictionary definition of the word. Students will complete a 4-part graphic organizer for the word.
    4. Each week, a vocabulary review activity is included (along with ideas for additional games and activities).
    5. Vocabulary quizzes are included as well to assess how well students have learned the words. Students will continue to test on words for four weeks ensuring that they don't forget the words immediately after testing!

A Vocabulary Review Worksheet is included for each week's word AND Vocabulary Quizzes! (And, of course, I've included answer keys for you!)

With this resource, you'll no longer need to plan warm-ups or bell ringers! Every day, you will have an activity ready for your students to complete immediately as they enter the classroom!

Over 250 Google Slides are included to make instruction time a breeze for the teacher! Vocabulary review activities and quizzes are included to help students LEARN and RETAIN the new words.

Here's what Julie had to say about these resources:

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"I just wanted to tell you that I have been using the 6th-grade version of your sentence sleuth and vocab program since the beginning of this year and it is really amazing.  My students are incredibly engaged every day at the start of class, they enjoy the sentences and are building their vocabulary.  I have both anglophones and French students together in the same class group that really need both the language work (sentences) and a structured way to acquire new words.  Anyway, we are reading The Giver right now, and particularly today (which is what prompted me to write!), many vocab words appeared in the pages we read.  Every time my students see a vocab word they acknowledge it, which is a testament to their learning and the success of the program.  I just wanted to say what a fabulous job you have done!"

    Vocabulary Instruction that Actually Works!

We all know that providing students with long lists of vocabulary words they only have to remember for 5 days isn't very effective! Students will inevitably forget the words as soon as the test is over. (if they knew them at all in the first place!)

With this alternative vocabulary instruction resource, vocabulary instruction goes deep, rather than wide! Students will learn (like, really learn) three new words each week, but will continue to work with words for four weeks!
