This WINNING GRANT PROPOSAL was written in 2009 to procure a LISTENING LIBRARY full of AUDIOBOOKS worth over $1,600.
Audiobooks are fantastic tools for scaffolding learning, as they lighten cognitive loads and enable students of all abilities to focus on deep comprehension. Kids love them!
I wrote this grant for a private foundation, but you can either use this as is - This grant is EDITABLE with highlighted areas for you to fill in with your own information - or as a jumping off point to help you get started.
The sections include:
• Short Description
• Detailed Description of the Project
• Explain the Need for the Project
• Population That Would Benefit From This Project
• Adaptation for Use by Other Teachers
• Timetable
• Evaluation
• Projected Budget
• Other Sources of Income
• Reference
NOTE – Since this grant was originally written in 2009, the budget called for CDs and Discmans! ☺
However, we used the money to also purchase PLAYAWAYS, which are awesome and look like handheld devices with earbuds. (I included pictures of some Playaways in the Preview). Some other fantastic sources of audiobooks include books on iTunes and Audible.
All these years later, kids still use the Playaways and books on CD for independent and Guided Reading. In fact, the audiobooks were so popular that we moved them to the Book Room so all grade levels could have access to them. More books in the hands of kids? YES, PLEASE!
