What educators are saying

This was a great resource that helped my students do more with the novel they finished reading. I will continue to use this resource.

    Description

Get all 8 of my editable One-Pagers in one bundle!

A One Pager is a single-page response that shows your understanding of a piece of text you have read, be it a poem, novel, chapter of a book, or any other literature. It is a way of making representation of a student's individual, unique understanding. They are a way to be creative, experimental, and original in their response to reading with an imaginative and honest approach. The purpose of a One Pager is to own what you are reading since we read differently when we know we are going to do something with the text that we have read. We learn best when we are able to create our own connections! This can be used as a homework assignment, in class assignment, or whole class end of novel project.

This bundle includes all 8 different One Pagers that meet the needs of what I teach my middle schoolers:

-One-Pagers #1-4 cover character, setting, response to an important quote, reflection on the novel as a whole, and summarizing important details (on the back side).

-One Pagers #5-8 cover character, setting, analyzing figurative language, reflecting on the novel as a whole, and summarizing important details (on the back side).

Each One Pager has a focus topic depending on what we have learned in class. For example #1 will have a response about author's purpose for writing the novel, citing and then explaining textual evidence to support their response.

Focus topics include: author's purpose, point of view, conflict, genre, literary devices, mood and tone, characterization, and theme.

All One Pagers include a rubric to use for grading.

How I use them: I use these in replacement of weekly reading logs. For me personally they are more meaningful and enjoyable to grade! Students get really creative when working on these! We have 4 card markings so I require they complete 2 One Pagers, each on a different novel they read that card marking, per card marking. The last One Pager is done on the novel we read as a whole class.

These products are editable so you can change what you need to work for your own classroom! Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions!
