Edgar Allan Poe biographical unit, five reading passages and activities.

Teachers can use this set of activities in a number of ways, in class, as assignments, or as an independent study: there are 5 biographical passages about Edgar Allan Poe covering his background, his childhood, his life as a teen and young adult, his early writing career, and his last years. They average around 350 words in length. Each passage includes comprehension and vocabulary questions on the right panel. Each one stands alone and can be used individually or as bellringers for a five day period.

The biography is also included in one continuous text of three pages if the teacher wishes to use it in that format.

There is a page of short essay questions that can be used as additional assignments or on a test. This product is aligned for Common Core Standards for grades 9 and 10 but I think it would be appropriate for grade 11 as well and even gifted students in grade 8.

Answer keys are included for all the biographical questions.
