Drawing Prompts

What educators are saying
Description
This resource includes 8 sets of 24 cards, with a total of 192 drawing prompts! Each set of 24 cards has a checklist that goes with it so it's easy to keep track of which prompts you have used. There are also editable blank cards that you can fill in with your own drawing prompt ideas.
I have added an additional 8 slides of signs, pictures and labels that you can use to display or store with your cards.
You can use these cards for:
•Sketchbook ideas
•A warm up at the beginning of an Art lesson
•An early finisher task
•Drawing Prompt of the Day
•A minimal prep sub/relief lesson
Ideas on how to use and display:
1.Pick 3 Draw 1 Box
Print and laminate the cards. Place in a box for students to randomly select three cards to take back to their desk. They can then choose 1 of the 3 prompts to draw.
2.Interactive Whiteboard
Display one of the pages of 8 cards up on the Interactive Whiteboard for the class to choose from.
3.Early Finishers Choice Board
Print and laminate the cards. Display in a pocket chart on the wall or place a Velcro dot on the back of each card and attach to a bulletin board. When students complete their work they can come up to the board and choose one of the cards to take back to their desk.
4.Sketchbook Checklist
Students glue one of the checklists in their sketchbooks for easy reference. They can tick off the prompts as they complete them.
5.Card Packs
Print and laminate the cards. Separate the packs into their 8 colours and store in either zip lock bags or keep together with elastic bands. Hand out 1 pack of cards to each group. Students can choose a prompt from their pack to draw. More than one person in a group can draw the same prompt.
6.Random Draw
Have a student select a random card for the class to draw that day. To give some element of choice, have the student choose 3 cards. Students can then choose from those 3 prompts.
Please note that this resource is a PowerPoint document. You will need Microsoft PowerPoint to be able to open and edit this document. I used the Apple font 'Chalkboard' on the Drawing Prompt cards. When using the editable blank cards, you can use the very similar 'Comic Sans' if you don't have 'Chalkboard'.
