Description

I have created a 10-week drama unit using various components of drama such as improvisation, characterisation and role-play. Each lesson starts with a warm-up (not linked to main component of lesson), body of lesson and a conclusion where students are asked to reflect on their participation in a drama journal. When I did this unit with my grade 3 students last year, we used the story 'Pumpkin Soup' by Helen Cooper but you can use absolutely any story you wish. Each week builds up to a final production where groups of students (3-4) role play an aspect of a party. This party can be a Christmas party (which we did for the parents at the end of the school year), Thanksgiving party or a birthday party. While I used this unit with grade 3 students, I would comfortably do it with students from any year level.
