Description

Are you looking for a close nonfiction read with text-dependent questions and other engaging activities? If so, this printable and digital biography of Dr. Patricia Bath might be just what you need. Dr. Pat Bath discovered and developed the technology to remove cataracts with the laserphaco probe! This close read is especially for February studies of famous African-Americans although this true account could be studied anytime. It is especially useful for use as test-prep. The estimated Lexile level is 700-799.

If you purchase open the green view files tab to get access to both the PDF and digital Easel pages. You can choose the pages for your student's devices. Simply go to edit pages and remove the ones you wish to remove for any given assignment. If you wish to change your selections you can revert back to the original pages and choose again. When you click the "assign" tab you will get a code for your students' devices.

I chose to do Patricia Bath because I researched her story and I feel that she was an amazing visionary (the pun was intended) ! I emailed her to ask for permission to use some photographs and she graciously gave me permission to use two photos. We conversed on the phone and sent each other emails. She very much enjoyed this resource and bought it once to give it away. Sadly, she died May 30, 2019 of complications from cancer so I feel I've lost a friend.
