Domains and Principles of Child Development Introduction Slides
- Google Slides™
Description
Use these Google Slides to introduce the four domains of development (PIES) and the principles of development with your students. Great start to a unit in Child Development! Many discussion questions that make students realize the many ways children develop. A matching activity (digital and paper versions) with scenarios/examples to review the principles of development is also included.
Topics covered:
- Difference between growth and development
- The four domains of development (physical, intellectual, emotional, and social)
- Six principles of development (ex. Development proceeds at different rates for everyone.)
- The importance for parents to know about a child's development
- Developmental milestones and delays
As this resource is on Google Slides, all the slides are fully editable! I would recommend presenting the material to the class, asking the discussion questions, and having them provide many examples for each principle. Then provide the matching cards (or link to the digital version) to check for understanding.
