Distance Learning: Boom Cards | Ten Fingers | Video | Song | ESL/Preschool

These are Boom Cards with an original song shown on a video! (If you're not sure what Boom Cards are, you're in for a treat! See below.)

Students can begin watching the song/video on card #5 called, "I've Got Ten Fingers." This song is sold separately on TpT here. I wrote this 40-second song as an alternative to "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." Too many of my students already knew that one, and it doesn't include key vocabulary like "arm" and "leg."

Here are the lyrics:

I've got ten fingers, and ten toes, but I've only got one nose.

I've got two ears, and two eyes, and one mouth to close. (mmmp!)

I've got two arms, and two legs, but I've only got one head.

I've got lots of hair, and lots of teeth, but there's only one of me!

There's only one of meeeee!

This version has no written words, so it's for testing young learners' or beginning ESL students' knowledge of the terms. There are two other similar video/Boom card sets with text for older learners.

Lucky appears in this video to model the mouth closing. The children hold their fingers in the air for this part and pretend to close a mouth, while closing their real mouths and saying "mmmp." That, and the exaggerated repeated final sentence (arms victorious in the air) make for a fun song to sing over and over!

The simple, catchy tune sticks with them, and will with you too! (Sorry!)

Although I teach French children who are learning English, this song would also be appropriate for teaching body parts to English-speaking toddlers and preschool children.
