However, the night of their most awaited dinner, an unexpected wrinkle crimps her plans, and could potentially compromise their young budding relationship.

I wrote this story for my students to help them level up their speaking. During our conversation circles and literary discussions, they’d repeat things that could be easily substituted with a direct object pronoun. It wasn’t about drowning them in grammar, but rather showing them how they could be resourceful when speaking. Students were engrossed in this dramatic story.
