Description
No prep sub plans for elementary are easy with my engaging, digital art project to design a digital ugly sweater on Google Slides™. Students will practice technology skills with my ugly Christmas sweater template and step by step art lesson. Then, pick a writing prompt to draft a creative story about their ugly sweater craft.
Need fun, fast finisher activities for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders? Digital art projects are paperless, take up no space, and don't use art materials. Simply assign the sweater project using your LMS, and stop worrying about early finishers!
TEMPLATES 2 WAYS
- The Google Slides version of this Christmas activity includes tech tips and step by step directions with pictures for independent learning. And, kids can build an ugly sweater using either copy & paste or drag & drop.
- The Easel version is a highly simplified drag & drop activity that you can quickly assign.
HOW TO USE MY UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER TEMPLATE
First, your students will pick a background. Then, they’ll choose an ugly sweater style. From there, they’ll add patterns, a neckline, festive words, and cute Christmas or winter graphic like Rudolph, a snowman, or tree.
This digital art activity is a great for teaching space, overlapping, and contrast; some of the sweater graphics will look better overlapped over a color that has more contrast.
NOTE
For the kids that don't celebrate Christmas, consider duplicating the file, renaming it something generic, and only include the snowman, snowflake, penguin, etc.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Did this activity before winter holiday with my 100% remote learning class. They loved it! High engagement, and a great resource that kept them sane before the long break!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We used this for our Holiday Party! I broke up the students into groups in breakout rooms and they had to work together to create the ugliest sweater. The class go to vote on the ugliest sweater and we got a few laughs out of it! They loved it! Thank you!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My students had so much fun creating multiple ugly sweaters! This was a great last week before break activity that kept my students engaged, learning and having fun. I loved that there is a writing component added to this activity.
