Description
What a better way to start talking about crime, detectives and Sherlock than showing students three Sherlock trailers and engaging them in a fun detective hunt. Students work in teams to identify certain objects or action in the Sherlock trailers. My students have a blast every time we do activities like these.
▬ DETECTIVE SHERLOCK HOLMES – CLUES HUNT GAME ( SKILLS: LISTENING, OBSERVING, READING AND WORKING IN TEAMS) ▬
►LEARNING OUTCOMES◄
GENERAL: Students will work in small groups in order to be able to identify the cues required. Only in that way they can reach the result required.
SPECIFIC: This lesson in a very engaging activity which can best serve as introduction to teaching Sherlock Holmes or, in general, to talking about crime, detectives and similar.
The activity covers one lesson (it might get a bit extended depending on the the size of the class and how many times you show the videos).
The package includes a pdf file with instructions and a worksheet for students and a ppt converted into a pdf file for security reasons (just show it full size and it looks like a ppt).
Students work either in pairs or in small groups. You will have to spend some time to instruct them (just follow the instructions included) and read through the questions. Once they know what to do show each trailer as many times as necessary for the students to find the clues requested.
At the end students will have to peer correct and sum up the results in order to check whose score is the closest to the right one.
My students loved it and got pretty excited during the whole process. It was a great introduction to a reading activity about Sherlock.
