Description

I've just made a digital version of another project based learning activity: Design a Dog House.

Now students can engage in this multi-disciplinary relevant project via Google Slides™ to practice a variety of skills.

Various math skills are emphasized in this project including area, perimeter, volume, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and measurement conversions. ELA skills are also integrated as students write persuasive letters. Giving students relevant contexts to apply skills is a meaningful way for students to construct conceptual understanding and see a useful application.

This product is also available in a printable pdf version here.

This product is available in a mini bundle with 3 other Project Based Learning activities. Check the bundle out here.

Each PBL activity is also available individually:

Design an Aquarium

Planning a Field Day

Design a Dog Park

Check out my Project Based Learning BUNDLE that includes 15 projects (including this one). Check it out here:

Know relative sizes of measurement units within one system of units including km, m, cm; kg, g; lb, oz.; l, ml; hr, min, sec. Within a single system of measurement, express measurements in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Record measurement equivalents in a two-column table. For example, know that 1 ft is 12 times as long as 1 in. Express the length of a 4 ft snake as 48 in. Generate a conversion table for feet and inches listing the number pairs (1, 12), (2, 24), (3, 36),...
Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information.
Introduce a topic or text clearly, state an opinion, and create an organizational structure in which related ideas are grouped to support the writer’s purpose.
