There are 2 versions of each of 10 scenes.

☀ describe one or both scenes, compare and contrast the two.
☀ make language target(s) as simple or complex as you like.
☀ Students can make up a story about a scene.
☀ At its easiest, the activity can be used to elicit simple descriptions
CCSS Listening and Speaking -
“Describe people, places, things, events with relevant details...” and
CCSS Language -
“Use frequently occurring nouns, verbs, ....prepositions” (k) to “Use frequently occurring adjectives, determiners, conjunctions..” and “...produce complete simple and compound sentences...”
☀ These can range from 1-2 words through complete complex and/or compound sentences
{CCSS Listening and Speaking - “...express thoughts clearly” (k) to “Produce complete sentences..” (1 and 2) and CCSS Language - see above}
☀ Next, compare and contrast scenes. Use the Venn diagrams to organize and illustrate the comparisons and use as a basis for an oral or written response

► Defining words and concepts is important in every subject area. Therefore, the ability to tell or write definitions or descriptions is an important skill in academics.
► Many special needs students can’t produce or recall definitions.
They may not have sufficient vocabulary. They frequently don’t understand how to organize words into a definition.
► Some of the earliest school experiences involve showing and telling about an object. For many students, language impairments preclude participation in this activity.
This resource contains:
• 2 Show & Tell guides with visual cues for prompting students to provide information to tell about their item.
